3D Environmental Space "Wired" (VR in Unity)
Background
Over the past few years, from the beginning of the 21st century, mankind has fully entered the information and communication society. With the development of network technologies and the popularity of communication tools, mobile phones have gradually become a necessity in our daily life. The virtual world inside the mobile phone is colorful and interesting. Shopping online, taking pictures, messaging, video calls, gaming, studying, and etc. Mobile phones satisfy our requirements and bring great convenience to our lives. However, the serious attractive quality of mobile phones separates numerous people away from reality. They stuck in the world inside the mobile phone and this results in the disconnect from people and things in the real world, which has become one of the biggest social problems nowadays.
Immersive technology like VR and AR is developing fastly in the 21 century. The combination between the virtual world and the emotion and spirit of reality is built by using these new techniques. Within a limited VR/AR space, the elements of photogrammetry and motion capture models increase the trueness of the sense that people are watching. These new techniques are able to bring people into different social experiments in an immersive way.
The project “Wired” creates a social experiment through the use of video. This social concept is up for interpretation by the viewer. The work explores the relationship between human beings, reality, and the virtual world by using technologies such as motion capture and photogrammetry.
The viewer is allowed to watch around and walk around in the virtual space, which will be more immersive and directly, also helps to build a stronger emotional connection. The interactive functions are one of the missing elements in this project. Based on the same idea, it will be surprising
if “Wired” becomes an escaping game.
